  • FEMA Workshop – Co-organized, designed content and facilitated a Two-Day Workshop, bringing together disaster scholars and practitioner experts in disaster management to assist in the development of a conceptual framework for “Building Cultures of Preparedness” Convened May 22-23, 2018. Georgetown University, Washington, DC.
  • FEMA Webinar – Design and delivery of a webinar entitled Building Cultures of Preparedness for FEMA leadership and the Emergency Management academic community. Convened through FEMA, September 20, 2018.
  • FEMA Research Report on National Preparedness. 2019. Co-lead author of a 38-page research report, Building Cultures of Preparedness detailing the failures of preparedness efforts to date and calling for a “culture-based, ground-up approach” to achieve FEMA’s new Strategic Plan (2018-2022) focused on preparedness. Report proposes that the relevance of cultural knowledge is critical for identifying local needs and strengths and ensuring success with preparedness. Report disseminated widely among emergency managers and homeland security communities as well as academic and practitioner groups. Extensive coverage by journals and magazines in the field.
